And with that the 2023 season has come to an end. Oh, my God who else is sick of hearing that phrase?! 🤣🤣

On New Year’s Eve, I received a voicemail, actually I received it on December 18 but because of my phone update, did not realize that I had a voicemail 🤣 But I did. And it was the absolute best way to end 2023! This was it…

It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It’s not going to be a lot but just knowing that I am still contributing and that Ninja doesn’t have to worry (as much) makes feel a sense of peace I haven’t felt in years. I appreciate everyone’s support during this long journey. It just goes to show what you can do when you advocate for yourself!! SO many people would have gotten a no would have taken that answer and been done with it. In fact, the system is set up with that very intention! So this is a sign. a sign to me and a sign to you to stand up for yourself, fight for yourself, because you deserve it! 💛

Last year, I became an Amazon Affiliate and I want to thank everyone who uses my link above for all your Amazon shopping needs. I was able to use the small commission that I received this year to pay the annual fee for my NEW blog site that will *hopefully* debut… Next week!!!

This year, I definitely noticed a trend to my viewership. The posts that get the most views are my Weekly Meal Plans, my Book Recommendations and the posts when I get real about my MS.

Thank you for helping me get through this year. It had its highs and its lows and I am grateful for both. Having this space to be able to record my thoughts and my feelings has been therapeutic and just plain old fun. I am excited to continue to grow so please keep on sharing, liking, commenting and reaching out!

While I was pretty fatigued this week, and by that I mean that it felt like I was so heavy that I was sinking into quicksand and every limb felt like weights were attached and my brain was in a fog, the Kids cleaned their rooms to make way for new stuff by deciding what to donate, sell and trash. SBean got her last present from Papa, a T. Swift hoody and I had a decidedly bad experience at The Bay.

I was exhausted and hadn’t been out of bed in 3 days but I had nothing to wear for NYE so I hauled my cookies to the mall. I tried on 3 dresses and it was exhausting!!! The zippers, the buttons and who new sparkly dresses were so heavy and cumbersome?! Ugh! They all sucked. I felt bad for the lady in the room beside me because the sales lady was aggressively trying to get her to try on this dress she had picked out for her. I didn’t want to get discouraged so I went back out and picked out a few more. I came back and the sales lady jumped on me. “I see you have a size 6 in this pile. The way you carry yourself I would say you’re closer to an 8-10. Do you need some help?” I actually knew that a size 8 was on a size 6 hanger but I didn’t care to correct her, I just “no I’m fine thanks. I don’t really like help.”😆 She said, “Are you sure you don’t want help? These dresses will do nothing for you!” I just looked at her, took the pile, flung it up on the tried on rack and said, “you’re right they will look absolutely horrible on me. Can you hang them back up for me?” and I walked out. She yelled, “come back, that’s not what I meant.” But I didn’t have time for her. I was busy 😜. I went to Winners and found 2 great dresses that made me feel great, so it all worked out in the end!

While I was shopping, Ninja took the Kids to Big White with my Sis and fam for an afternoon of tubing fun! I set up an evening full of festive game and the Girls came back here for a Cousin Sleepover! We played a few games I found on Facebook, roll the ball into the cup for a prize, shovel the “snow”, Hungry Hungry Reindeer, and a few rounds of Charlie Brown BINGO! They got to pick their prizes for each of the games, I think they had fun! After breakfast the next day Ninja took the 3 younger Kids and headed over to look after the Kitties for the last time and then they went to see Migration! After the movie they went for dinner at my Sis’s and then they all went to watch the Kelowna Rockets beat the Calgary Hitmen 7-6! Our cousin was the Linesman and the seats in front of my Sis said Ron and Kathy, so our family was well represented 😂.

For New Year’s Eve, Ninja and I went out for dinner at Orolo at Time Winery! Our first dinner out on NYE in over 15 years!!! It was nice to get dressed up and go out… at 5:30pm 😂. It was a wonderful dinner! The Kids had their Besties over and we all rang in the New Year together!

I hope you ALL had a safe and happy New Year’s. All the best to each and every one of you in 2024!

Winter Reading & Soup Season

Soup puts the heart at ease, calms down the violence of hunger, eliminates the tension of the day, and awakens and refines the appetite. – Auguste Escoffier

November Meal Plan

In November, the smell of food is different. It is an orange smell. A squash and pumpkin smell. It tastes like cinnamon and can fill up a house in the morning, can pull everyone from bed in a fog. Food is better in November than any other time of the year. – Cynthia Rylant

Infusion Day & Slow Cooker Meals

My morning ritual of showering for a fresh start to my day has progressed to a once-a-week occurrence. Like everything else that my MS affects, less shower time is not by choice. I take sponge baths daily of course, but actual showers are reserved for when I have enough energy for the scary, slip-and-slide thrill ride known as my bathtub’s shower. – Debi Wilson

There is a child in every one of us who is still a trick-or-treater looking for a brightly-lit front porch. – Robert Brault

October Meal Plan

Comfort food is the food that makes us feel good – satisfied, calm, cared for and carefree. It’s food that fills us up emotionally and physically. Finding comfort in food is a basic human experience. – Ellie Krieger
