Fathers Day Gift Guide & Father’s Day Dinner

You can tell what was the best year of your father's life, because they seem to freeze that clothing style and ride it out. - Jerry Seinfeld

Father’s Day is right around the corner so I am sharing Ninja’s favourite things! Ninja is TOUGH! He never asks for anything, wears the same things we wore when I met him (and still looks great in them BTW) and if he really wants some thing… He just buys it for himself. However, looking around the house, there are a few items that the Kids and I have bought him over the years that he uses on a daily basis! They range from items he calls “his“ in the kitchen, to electronics, self-care items, and household necessities! Today I am sharing my Amazon links for Ninja’s Essentials! These are the 9 items in our house that Ninja can’t live without!

On a sidenote I just wanted to let everyone know that supporting local is always first and foremost for me. However, if you live in a small town like me and are unable to buy these products locally, Amazon is a great option. Also, as I am not working as much, every time you use my Amazon link to do your personal shopping, I get a small commission for sending you to their site! it’s a win-win. If you would like to help me and my family out, just click the Amazon link at the bottom of my website to do your shopping. That is the biggest help that you can do for me and my family. Thank you so much for your continued support.

I asked my Dad for a beautiful red toaster for Christmas the year our house began to be built. He bought me a stunning KitchenAid toaster to match my mixer! That SAME Christmas, Ninja bought us an Oster 4-Slice Long Slot Toaster in Candy Apple Red. My gorgeous KitchenAid went back and Ninja kept his toaster. It is his baby! It doesn’t match the rest of our red appliances but Oster The Toaster is officially part of our family.

I bought Ninja a few of these Spongelle Mini Men’s Supper Buffers for his stocking this past year. They really are a bit of a luxury, but Ninja deserves a little luxury in his life! These buffers last 12 to 20 washes and smell amazeballs!

Ninja has loved Saxx underwear since I bought him his first pair many years ago. So much so that when I bought him a double box of 2UNDR Mens Swing Shift Trunk Boxers he forgot about them and pushed the box to the back of the drawer! Until I bought him ANOTHER pair for Christmas this year WITH a 2UNDR T-shirt, he was hooked! The feeling of these products are so luxurious. If you want to support local, they sell 2UNDR at The Bum Wrap in downtown Penticton!

Ninja likes making cocktails. He especially enjoys an Old Fashion every once in a while. I bought him this WANDiORY Original Bourbon Whisky Cocktail Smoker Infuse Kit with a torch! And now he can make delicious SMOKED old-fashions. It came with different wood chips for different smoke flavours and Ninja has enjoyed getting to taste each one!

Ninja’s parents bought him these JBL Live 460NC – wireless, on-ear, noise cancelling headphones after his last pair finally started to cut in and out on him. These have worked great, don’t hurt his ears and provides a great noise cancelling effect perfect for listening to music or chatting with me on our podcast!

Ninja’s favourite thing in the whole house is his PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Console. Like including me and the Kids! LOL He did not get one right away, but he has one now and it is one of our best purchases over the past few years. It’s on sale right now on Amazon! You can click the link for my affiliated Amazon page to check out the sale now!

Our under the sink area was a disaster! The Lomi is there, the blue bin, empty glass for recycling, PLUS the cleaning supplies… it was killing Ninja. So I bought this 2 Tier Under The Sink Organizer and he Loves it! You know you’re at a certain age when under the sink organization products bring you happiness and joy lol but it indeed has brought him both of those emotions and we are all happier for it Lol.

For Christmas I asked my Dad for this Oraimo 6L Top Fill Cool and Warm Mist Humidifier. It’s an automatic smart humidifier that’s efficient, quiet, has sleep mode, a timer, and a remote control. I asked for it, but it is Ninja that gets the biggest kick out of it! Since we have had our humidifier going, our tropical plants have really started to thrive! Now Ninja thinks he’s a Plant Daddy! Lol Whatever, all of our skin is less dry plus our air is cleaner because of the big beautiful plants that are blossoming in our perfectly humidified house!

Our living room is Ninja’s “Man Cave” hahahaha. But kinda. His Playstation is there, with his big ass TV, and his guitars and his plants LOL. But we don’t have any lamps, just inset lighting. On our back wall we have art representing places and adventures we have had together as a couple, so I bought Ninja these Meagoo Rechargeable Picture Frame Lamps with a Remote. They are USB chargeable, have different light strengths and even different settings for bright white or muted light! They give Ninja the light to be able to read… his PlayStation instructions lol as well as showing off our travel artwork wall!

I find it hard to make my man a special dinner because we make special dinners, all the time! It’s kind of like we’re rich people and you don’t know what gift to buy for because we have everything except we’re NOT rich but we ARE rich in food and we eat… Everything lol

So when I’m trying to cook Ninja a special dinner, I have to think of things I don’t make often, so that it’s special. Right away I knew, Ninja loves BBQ. He loves a dinner that reminds him of good times, safety, his childhood, family, and home. He is a Cancer you know lol.

I am not a rib person. I don’t really like meat on a bone lol but my Mom used to make the best Low & Slow Ribs! Ninja loved them! Loves them. Over the years this is one of the recipes that I have been able to do almost as well as my Mom used to, I still can’t make her stew or her hash, but ribs… I got this!

When you’re having BBQ ribs, you need baked beans! Although I have used many baked bean recipes in the past, nothing beats My Mother In-Law’s Bestest Baked Beans! They are my favourite beans, ever. Better than Ribfest, better than the local smoke houses, ALMOST better than my Mom’s Lol and one of Ninja’s favourites!

Another dish Ninja loves is Caesar salad. Specifically with my homemade Caesar Dressing. However, I wanted to shake things up. This is a meal I wanted to make just a little more special than usual for Ninja this Father’s Day because he does so much for us! So, we made Roasted Caesar Asparagus! Next time I would probably use bread cubes instead of croutons because my croutons got a little toasty, but Caesar salad dressing on asparagus? I had no idea how good that would be!

Last, but not least Ninja’s favourite part of a grilled summer dinner is his Dad’s Potato Salad. I have never made this before, this was my first time, but it certainly won’t be my last! I don’t know why I thought potato salad was going to be hard? It wasn’t! And we ate it for days and it was absolutely delicious!

Check out How Was Your Week, Honey? Episode #383: The Great Bagel Incident

This week, we get together for a morning recording session. Topics: sports siblings, more playoff talk, making lunch, band concert, parenting (pre)teens, SOW, American Cheese, & Barley the Dog.

I didn’t have a great week. We are unsure as to what is going on in my body. We think I have either caught a cold from one of the kids, perimenopause is playing havoc on my body… giving me a second period in less than four weeks, or I may be having my first relapse. It’s hard to tell what a relapse is. I’ve only ever had one that I know of and it was awful. It lasted almost 8 weeks of me just sleeping, as new symptoms presented themselves every day. That’s how you know if you’re in a relapse, new symptoms. However, I am having symptoms that I have felt before, but not like this. I have had some vibration in my bum, lower back and thighs, but this week my legs have felt numb and my feet have been tingling like my hands usually do. I’m not going get too worried yet. I have a neurologist appointment planned for the middle of June so we will see what that brings! In the meantime, I watched history unfold as the first ex-President of the United States was found guilty on 34 counts this week. I also managed to vacuum, and check out SBean‘s art/band concert. She didn’t win the grade 6 band award and she was devastated. She puts a lot of time and effort into her saxophone playing and was sad not to be recognized. However, this has given her great incentive to work her butt off to beat out the rest of her bandmates for the award next time! I watched the Canadian Open AND my Edmonton Oilers win the Western Conference to move on to the Stanley Cup Playoff FINALS!!!!!! This month, my Fitbit challenge group is doing yoga! Although I can’t do every move, it feels great to be back on the mat.
